The daily mail links to the Hypodermic needle model as there is no consideration to any other side of the story. The hypodermic needle model means that behaviour can be influenced through observation. So this daily mail article links to this model as they are assuming that the young teenage boy is violent because he plays games that involve danger and violence.
The big bold text ' violent game addict' is a whole different topic from the fact that he hacked talk talk. By using big bold text they knew that the readers would be automatically drawn to read this first instead of reading the small print to find out the real story. Also by using this image of the young boy they reinforce the stereotype made that teenagers who wear hooded garments are dangerous and violent.
Two-step flow model
The two-step model is the theory that people are influenced by other people's behaviour and opinions. For example someone may have an idol and will start to behave like them or behave in a certain way because of the things they say and feed into their mind. In my opinion I think it is still relevant in this day because people tend to dress or act like their favourite singers or actors etc.
This you-tuber fits into the two-step model as he has a very high amount of subscribers which means a lot of people have their eye on him. This means he could be seen as an idol or opinion leader. People have taken the time to stop and click to subscribe button in order to be alerted for any of his new videos/ content he will be posting. It is obvious that he has drawn them in by one video he has made so they now are interested in seeing/ hearing more.
The Telegraph article fits into the two-step model as it shows that anyone can be opinion leaders.
The Jamal Edwards also links to the two-step model as he can also be seen as an opinion leader. People would be inspired by him as he gained success from a young age which would drive young people to follow his path and the things he says in order to become successful like him.
Gratifications
Diversion : Orange is the new black
I think orange is the new black would fit well into the category diversion. This is because for people who work or who go to school , this would really be escaping your daily life. Orange is the new black is about a variety of different women of different backgrounds and ages who are all in jail and everyday of their lives in jail consist of a new story or drama.
Personal Relationships : Love and hip hop
Love and hip hop is a good example of personal relationships. It's in the name itself 'love' and 'hip hop'. People who feel they can relate to love e.g because of their relationships or those who genuinely like hip hop music may be able to relate.
Personal Identity: Educating Essex
Young people who watch this show would be able to relate to it as it is just like their everyday lives , they both go to school everyday and experience similar things.
Surveillance: BBC News
This informs people about what is going on around the world which us useful for living .E.g the attacks that recently occurred in Paris is useful to inform others about so they don't make the mistake of travelling there at such a hectic time.
